Ellmau - June 2006
Some piccies from our trip to Ellmau (Austria).
Stew found some cheap flights from Manchester to Salzburg for £26 return! We managed to talk some friends into coming along with us & booked the flights. Later we found a nice big 9 berth apartment right in the centre of Ellmau to share & also hired an estate car for the week. The grand total was £188 per person.......beat that Expedia :-)
We did a few walks, had a drive to see the Hintertux glacier & Krimmel falls, went paragliding, went white water rafting, visited a water park, we also did plenty of eating & drinking.
Ellmau sits in a valley between Wilder Kaiser & Hartkaiser mountains. It's part of the SkiWelt, Austria's largest linked ski area with over 250kms of runs. The other villages include; Going, Scheffau, Söll, Itter, Hopfgarten & Brixen, which surround the SkiWelt area. During the summer season only the main lifts from each village run to the top of the mountains. There are loads of different walks to choose from, you can go up, down, around, or a combination of all three.
