Flaine - February 2006
Some piccies from our ski/board trip to Flaine (France).
We went away with some friends we'd met in Söll the previous year. We all squeezed in a self catering apartment & it was jolly good fun. Jean especially enjoyed Stew's company ;-)
Flaine is a high altitude resort located in the middle of the Grand Massif & has 265kms of runs. It's stark 1960's Bauhaus styling isn't to everyones taste, but you get used to it after a while. We found the French on-slope food prices far more shocking than the architecture!
It was Stew's second week boarding, so he went to board school every afternoon. As they'd got a lot of powder from a recent dump, the instructor took them off-piste.....all week.....he hadn't even got the hang of on-piste by this stage! His board group had all done 4-6 weeks boarding before & were all a tad younger than he was. So he was really pushed & used to collapse with fatigue when he returned at the end of each day ;-)
