Heavenly - March 2008
Some piccies & a movie from Heavenly, Lake Tahoe (USA)
Me & Stew went on a 12 night twin centre fly-drive holiday, stopping at Heavenly & Las Vegas. The first 8 nights were at the Forest Suites Inn at Heavenly, the remaining 4 nights were at Circus Circus in Las Vegas (see seperate page). We flew into San Francisco & flew home from Las Vegas.
Heavenly is at the south end of Lake Tahoe right on the border of California & Nevada. The town is split by the state line & there are huge casino-hotels within a few yards of crossing into Nevada. There are various access points to the slopes spread around the base of the mountain, we were a couple of minutes walk away from the Heavenly gondola. The mountain has loads of wide well groomed blues to cruise on, needless to say, Stew soon sniffed out all the harder/tree runs! The resort is at 1,900m & has a vertical of 1,075m.
The majority of the days were sunny with a few overcast periods thrown in. On the penultimate day we went to Squaw valley & had to endure a white-out for most of the day. On our last day we woke up to 8-10 inches of powder, when the sun wasn't shining it snowed a bit more :-)
