Heavenly - March 2010

Some piccies & a movie from Heavenly, Lake Tahoe (USA)

We stayed at the Big Pines Mountain House for ten nights, it was five minutes walk away from the gondola. Every morning we had a vast array of donuts to choose from for breakfast, I heard some guests had the cheek to sneak some back to their room for apres ski donuts too :-P

Heavenly had 48 inches of snow the week prior to us arriving, it cleared up on the Sunday so our drive from San Francisco airport was snow free on the Monday. Tuesday morning it started snowing again for a couple more days, so to say conditions were fab would be an understatement. The weather kept repeating itself, sunny days & then snowy days, I think we got 22" over the time we were there :-)  We spent nearly all our time tree skiing/boarding in the fresh stuff, we had a blast!

Heavenly is at the south end of Lake Tahoe right on the border of California & Nevada. The town is split by the state line & there are huge casino-hotels within a few yards of crossing into Nevada. There are various access points to the slopes spread around the base of the mountain. The resort is at 1,900m & has a vertical of 1,075m.
