Panorama - December 2008 - Xmas
Some piccies & a movie from Panorama Mountain Village (Canada)
Me, Stew & our friend Mark went to Panorama again, we stayed at the slope side hotel Pine Inn. We got a great deal, it cost us £399 each for fourteen nights..........a bargain for the Xmas period! Originally we were going for 10 nights, but the return flight got cancelled (XL), so Stew managed to get it extended to 2 weeks for the same low price :-)
It was the coldest we've experienced so far, almost -30°C during the day for the first 3 days!! It gradually warmed up to an almost tropical -7°C by the end of the holiday :-) We didn't see much fresh snow at all while we were there, the days were a mixture of sunny & overcast. Because we arrived there 4 days after the resort opened for the ski season & the fact that the Rockies hadn't had their usual large dump of snow by that point, not all the runs were open. But as the days went by, more & more sections were opened up.
Panorama is in British Columbia's Rockies. It's a purpose built resort, a few miles up the road from the lake-side town of Invermere. It's not very well known to the Brits, I think the long transfer from Calgary puts them off. The village is quite quiet too, not much nightlife at all. But the ski area is fairly large with something for everyone & it has one of the biggest verticals in North America.
